WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), released the following statement on Kevin McCarthy opening an impeachment inquiry

“This is a new low in House Republicans’ failure to govern. Instead of doing anything to address rising housing costs, raise the minimum wage, tackle child poverty or address the opioid crisis, Republicans have threatened to the plunge the nation into default and are now once again pushing the government to the brink of a shutdown. It’s no wonder this Congress has been the least productive in decades.

MINNEAPOLIS — Located in Phelps Park one block away from George Floyd Square, the Southside Village Boys and Girls Club is quieter than usual this week as kids settle into school routines. However, there are sometimes as many as 100 kids in the building, which consists of three classrooms, a lunch area and a gym. 

Now with a federal grant, the club plans to expand by an additional 8,000-12,000 square feet.

With Minnesota and the Twin Cities, experiencing A record-breaking heatwave, Rep. Omar discussed the effort with KARE 11's Gordon Severson.

MINNESOTA, USA — Right now, states have different laws when it comes to protecting workers in excessive heat. 

According to the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, states like California and Washington have specific outdoor heat exposure standards, but Minnesota does not.

Minnesota does have hot and cold standards for work that occurs indoors, but not outdoors. However, Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) says employers have a “responsibility to protect workers from heat-related hazards.”
