WASHINGTON—The blatant disregard for human life, especially Black lives, is on display once again in our country's police departments. This time in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Lafayette, Louisiana. Both men were shot in the back by police officers. Jacob Blake is paralyzed from the waist down and Trayford Pellerin is dead.

The shootings of Jacob Blake and Trayford Pellerin are yet again two tragic incidents of police brutality against Black people in America.

WASHINGTON– Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) today introduced the Israeli Annexation Non-Recognition Act, a bill to prohibit the United States from formally recognizing or providing U.S. aid to any area of the occupied West Bank annexed by the Government of Israel in violation of international law.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) led a letter to oppose the Trump Administration's plan to invest $1 billion in controversial projects in Honduras over the next three years through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The DFC was created through passage of the Build Act in 2018—with the mission of promoting and facilitating investment with respect for human rights, the environment, and worker rights in developing countries.

Ilhan Omar (D-MN) introduced the Make Billionaires Pay Act, legislation to tax the obscene wealth increases raked in by billionaires during the ongoing pandemic in order to pay for the medical expenses of average Americans. This legislation is the House counterpart to Senator Sanders' bill.

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, along with Representatives Angie Craig (MN-02), Betty McCollum (MN-04), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), and Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency a grant of $6,972,739 to help low-income families and Minnesota's most vulnerable citizens, including those experiencing homelessness.

"Bobby" Scott (VA-03) introduced legislation to make all students eligible for free school meals during the 2020-2021 school year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. WASHINGTON—Today in the Water Resources Development Act of 2020, Congress passed a provision to expedite the completion of the partial disposition of the Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock. The bill also includes provisions to address climate change, invest in key pieces of natural infrastructure, and assist minority, tribal, and rural communities. The provision was led by Rep. WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), both members of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, on Wednesday unveiled legislation that would prohibit federal funds for police in schools, diverting existing resources towards the use of counselors, social workers, and other services and supports to help marginalized students and improve educational outcomes.
