MINNEAPOLIS – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Representative Dean Phillips introduced legislation in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to rename the Wayzata post office in honor of former Minnesota Representative Jim Ramstad who passed away last month. Senator Tina Smith and Representatives Tom Emmer (MN-06), Jim Hagedorn (MN-01), Angie Craig (MN-02), Betty McCollum (MN-04), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Collin Peterson (MN-07), and Pete Stauber (MN-08) have also sponsored the legislation.

WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) released this statement after the passage of the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act in the House. This bill federally decriminalizes marijuana and expunges nonviolent federal marijuana convictions. She voted "yes" on the bill.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) today introduced a package of resolutions to ban the Trump Administration's proposed sale of weapons to the United Arab Emirates. Earlier this month, the Trump Administration announced a $23 billion package of weapons sales to the UAE, despite consistent human rights violations by the regime.

WASHINGTON—Ahead of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) sent a letter to Zuckerberg opposing Facebook's role in the violence around the world, most recently in Ethiopia. The letter also raises serious concerns related to the online hate speech that contributed to the violence against Sri Lankan Muslims and the genocide against Rohingya people in Burma.
