Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) and Ilhan Omar (MN-05), re-introduced the Ending PUSHOUT Act, their legislation to end the punitive pushout of girls of color from schools. The Ending PUSHOUT Act calls out the harmful ways in which students are criminalized and overpoliced at school and invests in safe and nurturing school environments for all students, especially girls of color.

“I am deeply concerned about the violence between Sudan’s military and paramilitary RSF this weekend that has taken the lives of at least 56 people, including 3 Word Food Program workers, and injured over 500.
"This news is particularly devastating given the Sudanese people’s hopes for a transition to democracy in 2019 and sadly a predictable outcome of the military coup in 2021—given the international community’s failure to hold the RSF and military accountable.
In 2021, Congress passed the landmark American Rescue Plan signed into law by President Joe Biden. Among other policies, the bill dramatically expanded the Child Tax Credit to up to $3,600 for children under 6 and $3,000 for children between the ages of 6 and 17. These payments represented the biggest anti-poverty initiatives in a generation. As a result of the expanded Child Tax Credit, survival checks during the pandemic and expanded unemployment assistance, child poverty hit a historic low in 2021.
