Rep. Ilhan Omar on Wednesday condemned her Republican colleagues for proposing a budget resolution that includes massive cuts to key aid programs while backing an extension of giveaways for the wealthy and large corporations.
Congresswoman Omar met today with a cross-party delegation of Australian parliamentarians, including the former Deputy Prime Minister MP Barnaby Joyce, Senators Peter Whish-Wilson, David Shoebridge, and Alex Antic, and MPs Tony Zappia and Monique Ryan. They were joined by Gabriel Shipton, the brother of Julian Assange.
On Tuesday, the progressive lawmaker introduced new legislation to create the Office for Missing and Murdered Black Women and Girls within the U.S. Department of Justice to better respond to the national occurrence of missing persons and homicide cases involving Black women and girls.
