The recently announced Penal Code revisions mandate stoning for numerous offenses - among them adultery, consensual same-sex relations, blasphemy, and theft.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Jim McGovern, Chair of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, led a group of House Democrats in requesting information on the Administration's decision to restrict visas of International Criminal Court staff.

WASHINGTON—The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 7, the Paycheck Fairness Act – securing equal pay for equal work, and bringing our nation closer to its founding promise of full fairness and equality.

The final bill included an amendment offered by Rep. Omar and Rep. Don Beyer that that will ensure that major employers are required to report more detailed data to the Equal Employment Commission, in an effort to help identify and fight the growing racial gender gap.

"Today is historic on many fronts. It's the first time we have voted on a resolution condemning Anti-Muslim bigotry in our nation's history. Anti-Muslim crimes have increased 99% from 2014-2016 and are still on the rise.

WASHINGTON–Rep. Ilhan Omar (DFL-MN) will be joined at the 2019 State of the Union address by Linda Clark from Minnesota's 5th District. Clark came to the United States in 2000, after fleeing Civil War in her home country of Liberia. A resident of the United States for over 18 years, Clark is now threatened with deportation because of President Trump's decision to terminate Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for Liberian Americans.

WASHINGTON–Rep. Ilhan Omar (DFL-MN), along with over thirty members of the House Democratic Caucus, introduced the Federal Worker Childcare Protection Act of 2019 today—which ensures that federal employees affected by the shutdown are eligible for reimbursement of their childcare expenses. The bill authorizes appropriations to the General Services Administration for the creation of a fund to which federals workers can submit official documentation of their expenses and apply for repayment of fees.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (DFL-MN) will sit on the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the 116th Congress, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Wednesday night. This comes two days after Rep. Omar was named to the Education & Labor Committee.

The Foreign Affairs Committee oversees all foreign assistance, national security affecting the country's foreign policy, treaties, peacekeeping and war powers.
