MINNEAPOLIS—Rep. Omar released the following statement on the passing of her father, Nur Omar Mohamed.

"It is with tremendous sadness and pain that I share that my father, Nur Omar Mohamed, passed away today due to complications from COVID-19. No words can describe what he meant to me and all who knew him. My family and I ask for your respect and privacy during this time."
WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) led a letter to Secretary Mark Esper and Secretary Michael Pompeo today calling for the Administration to provide a briefing for members on the justifications of the recently announced arms sales to the Philippines, Egypt, India, Hungary, and the United Arab Emirates. The letter also calls for a hold on all arms sales until Congress has the opportunity to review them carefully.
WASHINGTON – Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Karen Bass, and Rep. Jason Crow today introduced the George Floyd Law Enforcement Trust and Integrity Act of 2020, which is designed to address the issue of police accountability and build trust between police departments and the communities they serve. Companion legislation has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Ben Cardin.

"As our community has been painfully reminded, deep inequities and injustices persist within our Minnesota community and the country. The loss of one of our community members, George Floyd, has ignited a national conversation on police violence and the continued brutality committed against Black people on a regular basis.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) and Ilhan Omar (MN-05), in partnership with Congresswoman Karen Bass (CA-37), Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-13), introduced a resolution to condemn police brutality, racial profiling and the excessive use of force.
MINNEAPOLIS -- After George Floyd died at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department on the night of May 25, 2020, Representatives Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Betty McCollum (D-MN) along with Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN) sent a letter to U.S. Attorney Erica MacDonald and Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman calling for accountability for George Floyd's death. Specifically, they are demanding thorough investigations at all levels -- including local, state, and federal -- into the events that led to this tragedy.
