Ro Khanna (D-CA) and 21 of their colleagues in sending a letter to President Joe Biden & Vice President Kamala Harris urging them to overrule the Senate parliamentarian's decision not to include a $15 minimum wage in the Budget Reconciliation package. Citing both concrete precedent and the severity of the economic crisis, Khanna's letter requests that the arcane Byrd rule be disregarded and the $15/hour minimum wage raise be maintained.

Earlier this month, Omar, one of the members of “the Squad,” was named vice chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, providing her with a platform to oversee legislation on foreign military deployments, aid and diplomatic policy.

WASHINGTON—U.S. Representatives Ilhan Omar (MN-05) and Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) led 28 members of Congress today in requesting that the House of Representatives make paid interns permanently eligible for telework. Current House guidelines only allow paid House interns to telework in the event of disaster, pandemic, or other emergency.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was named Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Global Human Rights. This subcommittee has jurisdiction over disaster assistance; upholding and protecting human rights; and oversight of international health issues, maternal health and child survival, the American Red Cross, the Peace Corps, and regional lending institutions.

Rep. Omar previously served as a member on the subcommittee during the 116th Congress.
