WASHINGTON – Last week, Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA), Rep. André Carson (D-IN), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) introduced a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize July as Muslim American Heritage Month, honoring their contributions throughout our country's history. The legislation was introduced after a constituent and local Los Angeles community organizer raised the idea of such a designation. Following introduction, the primary authors joined in issuing statements in support of the resolution.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar led a letter to President Biden requesting more information on the airstrike the United States carried out on July 20th, 2021, in Somalia. The letter also calls on the administration to define "collective self-defense" in the context of the airstrike and explain how the strike fits into the broader Somalia strategy.

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) advanced funding for four community projects in Minnesota's 5th District, totaling $32.5 million. These provisions passed as part of the INVEST in America Act, the House's surface transportation bill. The projects include $5 million for the Metro F line from Downtown Minneapolis to Fridley, $4.5 million for the Metro E line between Edina and the University of Minnesota, and $3 million for the Cedar-Seward pedestrian bridge at I-94.
