MINNEAPOLIS—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) released the following clarification on her questions during the House Foreign Affairs Committee this week.

"On Monday, I asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken about ongoing International Criminal Court investigations.

"To be clear: the conversation was about accountability for specific incidents regarding those ICC cases, not a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel.

Ilhan Omar (D-MN) led a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland today calling for additional investigations into patterns and practices Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Minnesota State Patrol (SP), Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), the Brooklyn Center Police Department (BCPD), the Richfield Police Department (RPD), the Edina Police Department (EPD) and the St. Anthony Police Department (SAPD).

WASHINGTON—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) reintroduced the Neighbors Not Enemies Act, which fully repeals the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. The "Alien and Sedition Acts" were a set of four bills targeting immigrants under the guise of war. While three of the acts have since expired or been repealed, the Alien Enemies Act (AEA) is still in effect.

WASHINGTON—Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY), and Adam Smith (D-WA) led a letter to Secretary Mayorkas and Secretary Blinken urging for the extension and redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali nationals in the United States. The letter also calls for a timely Federal Register Notice and a competent public information campaign to notify the impacted community of the decision.
On September 17th, protections for Somali TPS holders are set to expire.

"One year ago, our community watched in horror as a police officer murdered George Floyd. His death ignited a movement to affirm and uplift Black lives around the world.
