Vice-Ranking Member Ilhan Omar’s Statement on FY 25 Biden Budget

March 12, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Representative Ilhan Omar, Vice-Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued a statement following the release of President Biden’s budget for the 2025 fiscal year.

“Budgets are a reflection of our values, and I’m proud of the budget put forward by President Biden that protects and enhances our social safety net. It centers our most vulnerable, protects families, and safeguards our veterans. This budget ensures the ultra-wealthy and greedy corporations finally pay their share in taxes. It also prioritizes funding for affordable childcare, paid leave, and expands the Child Tax Credit. At a time when House Republicans and Donald Trump are proposing drastic cuts to vital programs like Medicaid, food assistance, and education, it is essential we counteract their cruel budget with a budget that actually builds a brighter future for American families. While this budget is not perfect, it goes a long way to invest in the needs of the American people. I, along with Ranking-Member Boyle, will continue to fight to ensure we pass this people-centered budget."
