Rep. Omar Renews Call for PPE, Hazard and Premium Pay for Frontline Workers After Death of Community Member
April 29, 2020
MINNEAPOLIS—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) released the following statement after a member of the Minneapolis community passed away after contracting COVID-19.
"A member of our community, Armando Solis, unnecessarily passed away after contracting COVID-19 because he did not receive the necessary supplies to keep him safe while he was working. Mr. Solis worked as a janitor in the U.S. Bank Plaza in Minneapolis for ten years. During his career, he fought for better conditions and helped secure the biggest pay increase in the history of his union. This tragedy underscores why all essential workers need PPE, hazard and premium pay."
