Rep. Omar Passes Martin Sabo Post Office Renaming Bill

November 30, 2022

WASHINGTON–Today, the House passed legislation authored by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to rename a post office location in Minneapolis, Minnesota after the late Representative Martin Olav Sabo, who represented her current district, the 5th District of Minnesota, for nearly three decades. The legislation garnered bipartisan support from the Minnesota Congressional delegation.

"Martin Sabo represented the people of Minnesota’s 5th District with honor and distinction,” said Rep. Omar. “I am thrilled that the House passed my legislation to commemorate his legacy and advocacy as a dedicated public servant. He built a career standing up for low-income families and the middle class throughout Minnesota. Through the Post Office renaming process, future generations of Minnesotans will be aware of his lasting-legacy for the people of the 5th.”
