Rep. Omar Launches Medium Page and Highlights Constituents Helped During the COVID-19 Crisis
MINNEAPOLIS— Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) launched a new Medium page highlighting constituent casework stories during the coronavirus pandemic. The first article focuses on ways Rep. Omar's office assisted constituents during this unprecedented time.
"My top priority is making sure members of our community are taken care of," Rep. Omar wrote. "Thousands of our neighbors are struggling mightily during this difficult time. My office and I have been working diligently to provide much needed support to all those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In the last few weeks, we have assisted those returning home from abroad, seeking unemployment insurance, applying for federal grants, and accessing federal relief payments."
"I contacted Representative Omar's office to see what help she might give me for my sister Valerie, stranded on a Covid-infected cruise ship off the coast of South America. Representative Omar and her staff offered my family and I needed moral support and contacted the Carnival Corporation to extract post-disembarkation commitments for the care and safe return home of both passengers and crew," said Cynthia from Minneapolis.
"Words cannot express the gratitude I have and renewed faith that government can have an impact. I'm grateful for the friend who suggested to call our representative to assist with my daughter stuck in Ecuador," said Cristine from Minneapolis.
