Readout of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s Meeting with Czech Republic Delegation

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar met today with a delegation from the Czech government, including Ambassador Tomáš Uličný, the Czech Republic’s Special Envoy for the Sahel, Ambassador Nicol Adamcová, the Director for Africa at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Czech Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission, Jan Havránek. The Congresswoman and the delegation discussed mutual priorities of promoting women’s education, global health, and good governance in the Sahel. The Congresswoman expressed her support for Czech initiatives around localization and development assistance. The Congresswoman and the delegation also discussed the role of Russia in Africa, including the presence of the Wagner Group in Mali, and the U.S. and Czech responses to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
