October 19-23 Weekly Update

October 29, 2020

Dear friend,

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact Minnesota, please keep following the guidelines to protect our communities. I will continue to fight in Congress to ensure members of our community receive the help they need to get through this crisis.

Next week, I will be holding an immigration town hall with Senator Hirono. I will discuss the recent court rulings for Dreamers and Temporary Protected Status holders. I will also be joined by Minnesota organizers and attorneys to discuss the new pathway to citizenship for certain Liberians. You can watch at Facebook.com/RepIlhan.

Outlining My Vision for America

I released a whiteboard drawing video to outline my vision for America. In the video, I discussed the need for all people to have access to a living wage, a home, clean air, and clean water. You can watch the full video here.

Visiting the Survivors Memorial in Minneapolis

I visited the nation’s first permanent memorial to survivors of sexual violence in Minneapolis. This memorial in our city reminds us that survivors are all around us. I stand united and in solidarity with all those who have been silenced. You can read more here.

Calling on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Withdraw the U.S. from the G20 Summit

I sent a letter demanding that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo withdraw from the G20 summit unless its Saudi hosts substantively address systemic women and human rights abuses. The Saudi government stands in stark contrast with every ideal we claim to uphold as Americans. You can watch the full press conference here.

Again, please check out my website for any helpful COVID resources and up to date housing and eviction resources

In service,

Ilhan Omar
